Payment Options

At Dr Gerard Tang Dental Surgery we give patients a range of payment options such as EFTPOS, Credit, HICAPs and cash. We also accept Department of Vet Affair (DVA) and Medicare Teen Dental Plan. At Dr Gerard Tang Dental Surgery your oral health and comfort is our priority. That is why we give our patients a variety of payment options so that when they are on the road to recovery, finance does not cause unnecessary stress…

    About our fees

In contrast to Medicare, dental fees are not subsidised by the Australian Government. As such there are no recognised fee schedule.

At our practice, our fees are kept as low as possible without compromising the quality of our results. If we attempted to reduce these costs further, there is a genuine likelihood that the quality of our gentle dental treatment will be compromised. Cheap dentistry means one thing – poorer quality of care for patients.

We know that the best way to lower patient costs is through the prevention of tooth decay and gum disease. This can avoid the need for expensive and extensive restorative work down the track.

What you should be aware of when looking into Health Insurance for Dental Fees

Every health fund determines the level of rebates it will pay based on its own commercial objectives. A key objective of some health funds is, quite understandably, to make profit for their shareholders in conjunction with providing rebates for members.

The rebates received on dentistry services are quite unlikely in many instances to cover more than 60% for most of our gentle dental items. This figure decreases further for more in-depth and expensive procedures. These may be valuable to some people in offsetting some of the costs for more expensive procedures. However, in many cases these systems may not represent value for money for routine dental procedures.

    HICAPS

Dr Gerard Tang Dental Surgery is a HICAPS provider which means we can provide on-the-spot rebates for health funds. This can fast track your next gentle dental treatment by eliminating the need for a manual lodgement. HICAPS is easy and simple to use at our Eastwood surgery. For more information on HICAPS and how this system can help your dental budget, please visit their website.

    Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA)

The Medicare Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA) helps veterans, their spouses and eligible dependants to access claims for treatment by medical, hospital and allied health providers. This means that veteran patients who seek our gentle dental care and treatment will be able to make a claim through Medicare. You can find more about making claims from the Department of Veteran’s Affairs on their Coordinated Veterans’ Care (CVC) Hotline on 1300 550 597 or visit their website.

    Child Dental Benefits Schedule

To help treatment options become more accessible and affordable for those between the ages of 2 to 17, the Australian Government introduced the Child Dental Benefits Schedule to help with preventive check-up costs. This is a fantastic way to encourage younger patients to undergo gentle dental check-ups in order to address any oral health care problems that may be present. We accept the claims under this scheme and welcome those patients young enough to consider this payment option. To find out more information you can visit the Department of Human Services website.

Sorting out your financials can take the worry out of your gentle dental treatment

One of the major reasons people avoid treatment is because it can sometimes be expensive. Yet when it comes to your oral health, there really should not be a price on your health and wellbeing. That is why at Dr Gerard Tang and his team are dedicated to providing convenient and affordable gentle dental treatments that are adaptable to your budget. We want your concern to be solely on your treatment and recovery and not on financial implications of your treatment with us.
